"Freedom in the 50 States"

For those of you wondering where to live, consider George Mason University's study of "Freedom in the 50 States" and the useful interactive map. My former state, New Jersey, ranks 49th, one notch more free than the Empire State, and just a step more repressed than California. Iowa, where I grow up, and Texas, where I hope to grow old, are 13th and 14th, respectively.

  1. Follow the money. Come to Singapore, my second home for more than 25 years.

Wall Street Journal: "The new Asian money flooding into Singapore has made it the richest city on earth."

  2. As a fellow Texan, I'm wondering if you've experienced to full August temperatures of the Hill country and if your body has adjusted to it yet. I spent about two years in Germany and for me the heat was a Godsend when I got back. Ironically, it was colder in Houston on Christmas '83 than it was in Frankfurt.
