"Regulatory capture" is wonk jargon for the process by which the parties most interested in specific provisions of legislation or regulation influence its development, by persuasion or otherwise, to their benefit. It is unavoidable in a democracy, the bane of "big and good government" liberals everywhere, and the main reason why we at TSOE believe that we Americans need to solve as many problems as possible with as small a government as possible.
