I drive a hybrid, not because I am sanctimonious or wanted a subsidy, but because I wanted to try the technology, the hybrid variant of the model I drive has much better acceleration than its conventional counterpart, and -- anyway -- it is the car I ended up with when my (then) wife and I divided up the chattels a few years back. Subsidies or tax breaks for hybrids are just another form of crony capitalism.
Singling hybrids out for special taxes, however, is just stupid, and wholly inconsistent with the rhetoric and principles of the Republican party. Please stop being morons.
